Profile and Area of Expertise
Gitashree Majumdar has a Masters in Applied Psychology with specialization in Clinical Psychology. She has completed three years integrated Advanced Diploma in Performing Arts Therapy, with special emphasis on Music and Movement Therapy. She has presented many research papers both in National and International Conferences on varied allied fields of psychology relating it to Music and Movement Therapy.
Presented her research paper which got selected in World Music Therapy Conference held in July 2020,South Africa. Received Best research paper, Barbara award, 2020 from Indian School Psychology association for working with Music with Slow learners.
At present she works in a renowned school in Hyderabad (Pragathi Central School) as School Counsellor,rendering services to 4000 students. She is also facilitator of Medical Music Therapy Course being conducted under TMMTRC (Kolkata) & NADA Centre of Music Therapy (New Delhi). She also conductsworkshop in school for awareness program for parents and children, and also teach innovative ways of learning through music, dance, drama and art.
She is an empanelled online counsellor for Indian School Psychology Association, this is an honorary service to the nation during this pandemic.
Has been dealing with Children and adults too, engaged into adolescent problem counselling too.
She also translates certain renowned Hindi and Bengali poems and relate them with different therapeutic approach to link to children, adolescents, youth and adults.
She also performs dance and music to create awareness about psychological theories and their therapeutic approach through her composed poem and dance. She writes poems and short stories related to the issues faced by the children and adults.
At present she is working on relating certain stories to certain concepts to teach children through storytelling including music and dance.
She is also a Movement Therapy Practioner trained under Pradip Centre for Autism and American Dance Therapy Association (ADTA).
