Dr. Sreekanth Appasani is an experienced Gastroenterologist in Hyderabad. He has helped numerous patients in his 13 years of experience as a Gastroenterologist. He is a qualified MBBS, MD – Internal Medicine, DM – Gastroenterology.

In his long standing career, he has worked under several prestigious institutions and organizations in India. Beginning as an Internist at King George Hospital in Visakhapatnam in 2002, he has worked in hospitals and institutes such as NIMS Hyderabad, Lazarus Hospital Visakhapatnam, Andhra Medical College, PGIMER Chandigarh and CSIR New Delhi.

His expertise in the field of Gastroenterology comes from his outstanding academic background and career. He obtained his Bachelor of Medicine & Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree as the best outgoing student in 2002 from Andhra Medical College, Visakhapatnam under the NTR University of Health Sciences, Andhra Pradesh.

With a 1st Rank in entrance, he joined for MD in Internal Medicine at Nizam’s Institute of Health Sciences in Hyderabad, finishing it in 2006. He secured another 1st rank in PGI entrance and joined for DM degree specializing in Gastroenterology at the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) in Chandigarh, completing it in 2011.

In addition to being an excellent doctor, he is also a member of the Advisory Board of the World Research Journal of Gastroenterology. Research & Publications :

  • Role of serum fibronectin- serum d-dimer and other coagulation parameter levels in the diagnosis and prediction of severity in acute pancreatitis. We have studied 90 patients with acute pancreatitis and serially followed them with serum analysis for these markers during in hospital stay. We have correlated these markers with various clinical parameters and events occurring in acute pancreatitis. We intend to analyze their serum NFKB – TNF – alpha – IL levels and study the cytokine storm pattern occurring in acute pancreatitis.
  • Effect of N-Acetyl Cysteine – Collagenase – Papain/Urea – Fibrinolysin and Streptokinase on pancreatic necrosis and blood vessels in vitro. We are studying the effect of these proteolytic and mucolytic agents on pancreatic necrotic tissue. This in-vitro study findings could supplement the ongoing treatment options for percutaneous drainage in walled off R
